Not going to lie - the fact that it was free was a big reason for sticking with it over FCP but now that I am using it regularly, I'd happily pay the same (actually more) to use Davinci - I don't pay for the Pro mode as I don't really feel the need for those features - especially since they bundled the latest audio levelling tool (makes VOs sounds MUCH better just by enabling).įrom someone who edits complex videos and occasionally freelances here's my suggestion. I ended up picking Davinci and have yet to find anything I wanted to do that I couldn't do with it. I also massively prefer the approach to timelines in Davinci - slightly less intuitive but much more powerful once you get to grips with it. I found the audio in Davinci (using Fairlight) to be easier and quicker to get a better result, and given I have a cheap mic and lousy recording set up this made a huge difference to my workflow. I found colour grading to be better on davinci, but I don't really use that feature too often as I make vide game content. I did a short trial period with both before picking one to use. Both are professional grade solutions so either option should definitely be enough for YouTube content.
It'll be hard for people to actually answer this as most people have picked one and spent most time using it, rather than using both enough to give an decent review.
